How long is the interim position to be held? Is LCUB advertising for a new general manager? What job qualifications are necessary for the position?

Considering the last GM, their qualifications are low, you must now speak correct English.

It now looks as if MR. nelson has been relieved of his position. How come he is dismissed 2 months shy of retiring? What happened? Simply saying that the hourly and salaried workers weren't getting the job done because of "rumors" is laughable. Was the mayor going to step in as the interim GM and step down as mayor? Who would he have appointed in his place?

1 Sorry, Ginnie. I can't afford meds. My property taxes got raised. And now I have visions of rate increases from LCUB to pay for two GM's. |
||||
Well never fear! The wonderful tax cheating government is on the way to help you out. Ah you gotta love those taxes to pay for all the dead beats, huh? I think most of that is for czars! What's the difference? I would rather pay someone LOCAL than a left wing loon getting millions on my time and doing jack crap!! |

1 Qualifications should be very high, along with expectations. They need to bring someone in from outside the "system" that can get a tighter grip on the place. Make the guys work, the office personnel to shut up and maybe put an end to the nonsense down there. I think it's funny that Shannon will be paid the same salary as Freddie during the interim. Wow...what a deal! I hear he needs it anyway, since he's almost bankrupt and can't finish building his lavish home on the lake due to lack of funds. I'd bet he gets some carpet laid now! |

I HOPE THE NEW MANAGER WILL DECREASE THE AMOUNT OF EMPLOYEES WE HAVE SINCE WE ARE OPERATING WAY OVERSTAFFED, I DONT HAVE A PROBLEM PAYING SALARIES TO THOSE WHO HAVE ACCOUNTABLE JOBS BUT LETS BE HONEST HOW MANY CAN SHOW WHAT THEY ACTUALLY DO????

Kick Backs, my friend, kick backs..... |
||||
Where do these supposedly kick backs come from and WHY? Some of you people need to wise-up and quit with the paranoid thoughts!!! It makes me think how evil some would be if they ever got into office with all the crazy thoughts and ideas. That was the days of Joe Sims, not today! |

1 And with Halloween approaching, someone brings up a local bogeyman from the past. I love it. Ah... the scary stories I could tell. But, alas, that is for another thread. |

Yes! Yes crooks still run the roads today. I think this county is filled with the most across the whole state of Tennessee unless we are Memphis. We are small, so I guess no one notices but the very ones who live here. I have lived long enough that the crooks don't care to come out in the open now. They used to scatter like bugs when you turned the light on but not now! SMIILE!

1 Direct in-your-pocket kickbacks may not occur too often today, but local officials can often be on the receiving end of some fortunate real estate deals, favorable bank financing, etc. None technically illegal. Some local officials involved in real estate development come to mind. |

1 In a small town in the Southeastern United States with no core industry to speak of, the largest (and best) employer is the public - city, county, state. The political establishment that controls jobs control everything and this doesn't get significantly better until that process of hiring is opened up to the light of day. For example, through an act of sheer political will, we could solve the problem by insisting that the public hiring process at all levels be opened up - that every job be filled through a process free of insider influence. Its not complicated or difficult. Every job opening could be described in objective terms of qualification (skill sets, education, and experience). Then, applicants could be rated relative to each criteria / performance metric on a scale of 0-9. The person scoring the highest would be offered the job with the entire process - from job definition through recruiting and hiring could be open to the public. The technology to do that is available and practical. This entire process could be accomplished under the watchful eye of the public. Its just a matter of political will. Whether you get (or keep) a public sector job should depend ENTIRELY on the objective value you offer the tax payer - not on who you know and whose butt you and your family kiss at election time. Shut down the backroom conferring of jobs, and you've gone a long way toward cleaning up local politics. |
