A Louisiana-based restaurant chain has agreed to pay more than $100,000 in back wages to 135 chefs and servers following a Labor Department investigation.

The State Civil Service reports that 3,999 classified state employees have lost their jobs since Gov.

Sheriff Sam Craft of the Vernon Parish Sheriff's Office has reported that three individuals have been arrested following a joint investigation by the Vernon Parish Narcotics Task Force, The Department of Justice Drug Enforcement Agency, and the Louisiana State Police.

A convicted sex offender from Sabine Parish who was reportedly out-of-compliance with state registration laws was arrested in Leesville, according to a news release from the Vernon Parish Sheriff's Office.

The House Appropriations committee Monday stripped almost $500 million from Gov.

I was stationed at Fort Polk during the Vietnam War. As trainees we were warned about going into town , because the law enforcement officers would do anything to arrest you and fine you for anything they could to get money out of you.

Miss Louisiana contestant: Kevie Wright of Alexandria will compete in the Miss Louisiana pageant this summer.

It was an amazing show of support by the community to the soldiers and families of Fort Polk--one that will long linger in my memory.

Granted, the businesses in Leesville need the soldiers, but the Vernon Parish government seems not to care about the military unless it's to exploit it for financial gain.

The most recent heartache was witnessed just last week in Boston and then again in West, Texas.
