That was a good idea to do. But I hope it doesn't become a FORCED idea. Lunch is the kids' only time during the school day to socialize. I agree with the one student who would rather sit with their friends and relax during lunch period. I used to HATE it in school when we had assigned seats in lunch. You are forced to sit with kids that have hurt you, or have made fun of you, and you are put right in the most uncomfortable position to eat in. Hopefully things have changed a bit since I was in school. I also hope that I have instilled in my child the ability to appreciate EVERYONE, esp for their differences.(GLSD SR High student).

One thing I did find interesting was the 'snowboarders'. We had the jocks, preps, etc. But no 'snowboarders' clique!!!

As a one time, or even random event, though, it was a good opportunity for the kids to appreciate and get to know others and their differences. They will have to in jobs, college roomates, etc.

I think this a very good thing. That way you can get to know others. It would be a good thing before jobs and college. That way maybe the rude and high class kids will grow up. All kids are equal no one is better then the other this way.

You will run into cliques all of your life. It's a matter of making yourself known as an individual and bringing those others to you. I agree that this is an interesting idea, but forcing equality in schools "could" lead to mediocrity later on.

I would also have to ask how the student that is treated equal but has difficulty learning is to get the maximum benefit. If we are going to be equal with lunch it should be across the board to support any argument of equality.

I close with the fact that I have a Seizure Disorder that forced me to leave a job that I loved but could do no more due to driving. It was very difficult to find employment due to not having a Drivers License and at times I felt that I wasn't being treated equal. I learned at that point equality means crap and if you don't make an impression on others in life on your own, you will be stuck for a very long time if you want to be successful

Does anyone else have a clue what this person's point is?

I was forced to sit with Harriet at lunch one time. She came on to me and then we had sex and we had to get married. I did not really like her cause she drank and was kind of you know...one of those kind of girls. If I had not been forced to sit with her, my life may have been different.

In theory, maybe, but in reality, this is just one more example of why we all should be vigilant against socialist practices. Lunchtime is sometimes the only "free" time these kids get and now they have taken even that from these particular students. Maybe those kids who are not "rude and high class" didn't want this - maybe they look forward to their own "space" when eating their lunch.

I agree with you. Both my girls where not happy with this arrangement. They sit with nice kids for a reason because they don't want to have anything to do with the snobs or the kids that think they are better than anyone else or the ones that do nothing but cause trouble. They look at lunch as their time to catch up with some good conversation and relax before they are forced to sit next to arrogant and the unrulely students. My daughter thought it was quite interesting also to see that a couple of the students who came up with this great idea are the same ones that snub the other kids because they think their better. Too funny isn't it?!

Daily Horoscope for December 8

Pisces

You're capable of making some very constructive and important decisions today, particularly where your relations with certain people are concerned. If you're fed up with the way someone has been treating you, you might now decide that the worm is about to turn and you're going to be much firmer about what you're prepared to put up with and what you won't tolerate.
