Lansing man may face death penalty for girlfriend's death
A Lansing man could face the death penalty in the homicide of his pregnant girlfriend and her unborn child.
Leavenworth County Attorney Frank Kohl amended charges Thursday against Sedale Fox, who is accused of killing 20-year-old Olivia R. Jackson and an unborn girl, who was weeks away from birth.
Fox had been charged with first-degree murder, but Kohl said he amended the charges after reviewing the final autopsy report.
Kohl has not declared his intention to seek the death penalty, but the amended charges give him that option as the investigation continues. Read more

Inmate chorus to perform in Wichita
“I think that's a lot of the charm of it, and a lot of it is, of course, people believe in what we're doing.”
A chorus of inmates from Lansing Correctional Facility that draws crowds in Kansas City every year will perform in Wichita on Thursday night.
The free concert at Century II by the East Hill Singers, directed by former area resident and teacher Elvera Voth, will be part of the annual workshop of the Kansas Music Educators Association.
It will start at 8 p.m. and will be open to the public.
The first time someone attends a concert by the inmates may be out of curiosity, said Jean Ney, association president. 'But after that,' she said, 'musicians go because (high) quality music is performed, and they see lives changing before their eyes.' Read more

Lansing man accused of murdering pregnant girlfriend faces additional charge
A Lansing man accused of murdering his 20-year-old pregnant girlfriend faces an additional charge of conspiring to commit murder, according to charges released Friday.
Sedale Fox, 23, of Lansing, and Jared A. Reed, 21, of Farley, Mo., each have been charged with one count of conspiracy to commit first-degree murder in connection with the Jan. 11 bombing of a home where Fox's girlfriend had been staying about two weeks before her murder.
The charges against the two men were filed in separate cases, but they share a common victim, Olivia R. Jackson of Leavenworth. Read more
