Josephine "Jo" Aldrich, 88, of LaGrange, passed away Wednesday, May 22, 2013 in the Cleveland Clinic Foundation, after a short illness.

LAGRANGE - Pittsfield Township Trustee Mark McConnell was again removed from the Rural Lorain County Water Authority board Wednesday after questions were raised about the legality of a secret ballot process used to vote him off the board last week.

LAGRANGE - The Rural Lorain County Water Authority board's use of secret ballots in a vote Wednesday to remove Mark McConnell from the board violated Ohio's Sunshine Laws, according to an open meetings expert and a 2011 opinion issued by Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine.

In a secret vote, the Rural Lorain County Water Authority board voted 17 to 9 Wednesday night to remove Pittsfield Township representative Mark McConnell after four other board members brought charges that McConnell had tried to get some members removed from the board.

Nearly a third of the county's population could be paying less money to have their trash and recyclables picked up if talks to contract with a single trash hauler bear fruit.Whichever firm may eventually win a contract to serve Avon, Avon Lake and a projected 13 townships at last count, that company will bag a very big prize."We're probably talking ...
