The La Puente council will look the other way on this one. It is a shame that this area has so much violence. The people who live here really want this city to be saf'er but you know the old saying "You can't fight city hall ,and boy have we been fighting the city to make this place a safer place and the council members just look the other way. I'm very sorry to hear that someone else has been a victim of crime in the city that I live in. I don't want this happening here. We deserve to be heard.

His last name was Valdez, and he was my husbands nephew, His whole family is hurting and missing him.Our only consolation is that he had faith in the Lord and our hope is that he is in heaven now. I pray for those who killed him, that some day they will come to know the love of God, and repent and be forgiven. The city should ban all LARGE house parties - there are so many going on in La Puente at one-time: "dueling parties" the music and parking infringes on another's party. The illegals espeically have HUGE noisy and totaly chaotic parties routinely. Limits need to be imposed to maintain some sense that we still live in the United States.

Sheriff department need to find the persons responsable for the killing and bring them to justice. They need to pay for the pain the valdez family is going thru. Our prayer are with the valdez family and Steven enjoy the presence of god. You will make a great angel.

Hopefully, the residents of the other party will do the right thing and give up some info. It sounds like there were plenty of witnesses, someone has to eventually 'fess up...

What a tragedy. Such a young age too.

FYI...unincorporated areas, like Valinda, are not governed by La Puente or its Council.

I'm sorry to hear about this young man losing his life-seems so senseless, doesn't it? I feel for the family members and friends. Parents, I know you can't monitor your kids 24-7, but please try to impress upon them (if you happen to know where they might be going out to) that La Puente, Basset, Valinda are NOT the best areas to be in, after dark or otherwise. Innocent as it may be where kids are just standing outside talking with friends, there's always gonna be some coward with a gun or knife who shows up and harms another. Just so damned sad!

Okay, who governs them? They have to answer to someone. What does Incorporated mean? That no one can do anything about the violence? The La Puente city council is not going to do anything to correct the problem until it hits them in their wallets.
They all are interested in more money and adulation from the public. Come voting time they're walking the barrios talking to everyone, but where are they when you need them? Oh, they give you lip service but they never follow through. The only one I could count on to help me when there were problems is no longer there. Many of us were sorry to see her go.

splendid said unincorporated not incorporated."We"(va linda)are not governed by no one but decisions are made by the los angeles county board of supervisors which acts as our mayor city, council etc etc.Even though we are truly not a city.Do you ever see blue street sings around valinda and la puente? That means county property vs la puente has green street signs that say city of la puente. Now do you know the difference.

this was not gang related. but the larger party was a gang. the smaller one wasn't though. The large party was a skin head punker gang called unity. they don't care about anything or anyone. it can be 60 to 1, and they still still use weapons. they are well known for going to backyard gigs and jumping people.

Daily Horoscope for December 6

Virgo

Luckily, you're less susceptible to people leaning on you today, but there's still a chance that someone might try to take advantage of your good nature. It's so darn difficult to stand up to them, partly because you genuinely want to help if you can, and partly because you don't want to be seen in a bad light. But you don't want to be seen as a doormat either, do you?
