The authorities should investigate the Improvement Association.
Behind Music in the Park and the Easter Egg Hunt is a PAC (Political Action Committee).
The last Heights Life exposed their agenda with articles attacking informational flyers from the last election, not because there was anything false, malicious or illegal in them, but because the flyers exposed one of their chosen candidates.
Read their by-laws, if you can find them, and you will see they don't follow them.
Who really runs the Association?
All meetings in the city are listed in Heights Life except Improvement Association meetings. Why is that?
Excess funds from Music in the Park, which receives Public monies, are used to subsidize the IA end of the year party.
This is a 501c non-profit that uses their position to influence political decisions and elections.
They now have a majority on the city council.

So the power's (LHHIA) behind the throne (City Council) have their well deserved scandal. The LHHIA are almost all of the 25 people who signed and made that illicit complaint on a fair and proper flier sent to the residents of LHH to beware of who they vote for. Bet the LHHIA is scrambling now; guilty by the company they keep. Bet the DA is watching what went on under the VP's reign of the LHHIA. Hope so.

The President of the Improvement Association and another director both wrote written endorsements for a city council candidates flier.
Can they do that?
"Mayor" Karen Vipperman also donated at least $1100 to the candidate, in kind.
The President of the Improvement Association and another Improvement Association director were both separately appointed to the County Water District, without an election.
What's up with that?
Looks like the Improvement Association is trying to "run the table" across all our local governments.

I just read this in the news. We may want to think twice about sending contributions to what appears to be a corrupt organization, shame.

Just read the Lahabraheights.net article, IF it is a true copy of Mayor Vippermans e-mail comments the other councilmembers and ALL voters should be outraaged and a recall effort should be started.

Amazingly, someone from Germany has such knowledge of tiny little La Habra Heights and their even tinier improvement association. I guess if I had the time, energy, lack of any sort of life, didn't do volunteer work, I too would have the time to get an URL or email in Germany. That way nobody would suspect I was a busybody from La Habra Heights.

Hey Spaceman, the locations shown under people's names don't mean much. They depend on where an ISP is or where the packet gets bounced around.

La Habra Heights is a good place to live except for the few people who sit around and spew their hate for the good people of the heights.
The bad are those few, two come to mind, who write junk like this found on topix. Let's take for instance, the Soares. Two people who are in jail, probably losing alot, have a very personal tragedy going on in their lives and their household. And Mr. Edwards decides to further disgrace them and hurt the LHHIA in the process. The ugly. People who are so hateful and want to ruin peoples lives. The people who are your targets are people who have spent many years volunteering to benefit their community.

Well unlike Jean Good Lietzau, Edwards does not collect city welfare to pay his medical insurance. Now who is the true volunteer?

Face it The La Habra Heights improvement association need to investigate if Jean Good Lietzau is involved in La Habra Heights epidemic level of identify theft. I have it on good information that her husband stated to a reporter, investigating the story, that it was not his business if Mrs. Jean Good Lietzau was involved. Should that statement alone not trigger an investigation?

I think the story can be handled without mentioning the names of the parties. I know them. They are nice people.

It is telling though when posters denigrate and attack the messenger(s), rather than seeking facts.

What we know:

1. The Vice President of the Improvement Association was arrested for fraud, identity theft and forgery, among other things.

2. It's been almost a week and there has been no press release, statement, or notice on their web site, from the Improvement Association, and apparently they have stonewalled reporters' questions.

What we don't know:

1. What are the security procedures, if any, the Improvement Association uses to protect members information?

2. What are the security measures, if any, the Improvement Association uses when handling members' dues checks and credit card information?

3. Did the Vice President regularly, or ever, have access to member information, member checks, member credit card information, or participate in processing check deposits?

4. As the Improvement Association Welcome Wagon representative, going to new residents' homes, did the Improvement Association have standard and prudent bonding, insurance, and background checks on the Vice President or others on the Board who handle money and sensitive information?

5. Have these standard prudent procedures and checks been performed on all Directors?

Until we have open and honest answers to those questions from the Improvement Association, supported by receipts, corroborating testimony, and/or documentary proof, we all have reason to worry about our personal information.

Depending on the Improvement Associations' answers to those questions, we may have good reason to worry.

There have been enough situations like this in the news that we will be able to tell if we are getting the truth or the runaround, and if the Improvement Association truly has prudent basic security methods in place.

ms. vip. Have you lost your sense of right and wrong? The DA charged them and arrested them for 144 felony counts. A personal tragedy? Mr. Edwards is disgracing them? They disgraced themselves. What planet are you from? Is it okay to rip the government off, rip the tax payers off, rip employees off? How would the DA draw that conclusion unless they investigated and found a jury to give them go ahead? I guess in your eyes, anyone who volunteers is okay; even if you get arrested. Think I will go to church.
