The Flathead County Commissioners approved the purchase of the Somers' garbage container site from the state, progressing plans for county waste container consolidation.

A 2.5-mile section of the Rails to Trails of Northwest Montana path was being finished last week, completing a 12-mile paved pathway from Meridian Road in Kalispell west through Kila along Ashley Creek.

John Keenan did what most guys do when they turn 50. He went on a 2,550-mile bike trip across Alaska, Canada and back home to Kila, averaging more than 80 miles per day throughout the epic summer trip.

Thursday 7/23 6:41 a.m. In Whitefish, two suspicious individuals dressed all in white were loitering beneath a bridge.

Wednesday 7/8 6:45 a.m. A Columbia Falls individual suffered an allergic reaction to an unspecified substance.

Monday 6/29 12:33 a.m. A horse was apparently tied to a tire with no access to food or water.

Friday 6/26 7:14 a.m. A suspicious vehicle careened recklessly about the downtown Lakeside area, damaging a guardrail alongside the road.

With a 6-year-old and a 2-week-old infant, Jolene Ramos of Kila has plenty of worries.

9:29 a.m. A silver Audi has been sitting on a dirt road in the Foys Lake area for approximately three days.

6:31 a.m. In Kila, a blue heeler was viciously attacked by a neighborhood pit bull.
