I'm sure all states have pockets of folks who have lived in proverty, are now living in proverty & will probably forever live in proverty.
I noticed that the article DID concede that drug abuse is often a contributing factor, but I find that a Sister saying cops wait for dead stickers is the reason folks don't carry insurance - I have to speak out. Officers normally give warnings out to expired stickers if there are no other violations - like -- totally illegal registrations etc. and there are free checking accounts if you look for them..... Sister Peterworth "When you have to pay $300 a month in rent, car insurance -- which most do not have because the cops wait for dead stickers -- banks charge too much for checking accounts, it is easy to see how people get lost in the shuffle all because one little problem to one man is a huge issue to another," Peterworth said. Yes, some folks live in proverty & just how many try very hard to climb out of it? I should know...I made that climb & it wasn't easy. It's hard work & sacrifice that some do not try.(I would like a survey to know how many of those in proverty have tv, cable, phones - including cell phones, electronic games for the kids etc. washers or dryers, scrub clothes on a scrub & hang to dry, etc) |
