Aug. 5--The Stutsman County Commission appointed a committee to make a recommendation on participation in the federal National Flood Insurance Program during its regular meeting Tuesday.

Portion of Highway 9 near Kensal remains closed
Although water has receded from the roadway and bridge on N.D. Highway 9 west of Kensal, it will remain closed until North Dakota Department of Transportation officials are able to inspect the roadway and structure to ensure the area is safe after the recent flooding.
