KEARNEYSVILLE, W.Va.- A 70-year-old Jefferson County woman escaped an attempted sexual assault Monday morning near the Sulphur Springs Road bridge over Opequon Creek south of Martinsburg, according to police.

A manhunt was under way Wednesday night in Jefferson County after police attempting to arrest a suspect on drug charges were forced to fire at his vehicle when he plowed through multiple cars and nearly struck several officers in his bid to escape.
