Four candidates vie for three Kearney School Board seats

The three incumbents and a challenger vying for three seats on the Kearney School Board all see a $12.2 million bond issue on Tuesday's ballot as essential to a district with a small commercial tax base.
Mark Spero, a youth sports coach with a daughter in the district, is challenging Brian Thomas, the incumbent board president, and two current board members, Mike Brinkley and Mike Miller.
Miller is seeking his third term on the board. Brinkley and Thomas have each served one term.
The candidates agree that modernizing the district's aging technology -- student computers are 12 years old on the average -- is an essential element of the bond. Read more
