Goliad man killed in oilfield accident
A Goliad man died as a result of injuries sustained in an oilfield site accident on Monday, May 6. According to information from the Karnes County Sheriff's Office, the accident happened near the intersection of County Road 249 and FM 81, a location about 8 miles north of Karnes City.
DKG chapter awards book grants
Gamma Omicron Chapter of the Delta Kappa Gamma Society International recognized its book grant recipients at the May 4 meeting held at RES Elementary School in Karnes City.

KC Council approves Martinez as city secretary-comptroller
The April 23 regular meeting of the Karnes City City Council saw the council approve Amelia "Mely" Martinez to the official position of city secretary/comptroller. Martinez had been working for the city in various capacities since 1985, and was eventually appointed as assistant city secretary in March of 2011.

At a special meeting of the Karnes City City Council held on April 11, Don Tymrak resigned as mayor and was hired by the city to be the new city manager.
Permit denied for injection well near Karnes City
After hearing from representatives of Karnes City area residents opposed to the construction of an injection well located just outside the city limits of Karnes City, the Texas Railroad Commission voted unanimously to deny the permit requested for the well.
The Goliad Special Education Cooperative receives funds from the individuals with Disabilities Education Improvement Act of 2004.
Early voting for the upcoming city and school district elections for the Karnes County area begins Monday, April 29 and will run through May 7. Election Day is Saturday, May 11.
