A sign on one of the tables read "we're hiring." That pretty much summed up the seventh-annual Job Fest at the Best Western Courtyard in Great Bend Thursday evening.

People looking for full- or part-time work will have an opportunity to meet employers during Job Fest 2013, taking place from 4-7 p.m. Thursday at the Best Western Courtyard, 2920 10th St.

Members of the local RV Club, Cowboy Sam, load up their rigs every third weekend of the spring and summer months and travel to destinations around the state, enjoying the company of good friends and good food.

The mood of school district voters seemed to carry through the night as two incumbents were defeated by challengers - in Position 4, District 1, Darin Holecek, 252 votes, David Hand, 564 votes; and in Position 6, District 3, Stacey Gustin, 232, Elizabeth Donley 559.

To honor the memory of a special young boy, as well as to raise funds to find a cure for the congenital heart defect that ended his life at such an early age, Dalton's Heart Walk will start at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 6, at the Kanopolis City Park.
