The 2014 Aloha Relay for Life held July 18-19 at Kamiah was quite a success with 155 participants, including 12 teams and 18 cancer survivors.
Kamiah School Board
Kamiah School Trustees deliberated on approving bus routes for the 2014-2015 school year and voted on classified wage increases during a regular meeting July 21. A slightly heated discussion ensued when board members were debating a budgeted 5% wage increase for all employees in the "classified" status.

City ordered to give up land on railroad easement or face penalties
The City of Kamiah has been accused of trespassing on a 4.6-acre parcel of land north of No Kidd Lane.
Council, mayor say new water plant must be paid for whether it works or not
Frustration over a yet-to-be finished water plant and the city's billing for the bond payment on the plant prompted Merrill Hartley of Kamiah to write a letter scolding the mayor and city council for what he claims is illegal activity.

The Bureau of Indian Affairs has ordered the northern Idaho city of Kamiah to vacate a 4.6-acre section of land the bureau says is owned by the Nez Perce Tribe.

School districts receive financial boost
Kamiah and Clearwater Valley schools have been greatly enriched thanks again to the Nez Perce Tribe.
Emergency responders rescued two people from a single vehicle accident along Highway 162 near Kamiah July 8. According to Idaho County Sheriff's Offi cer Tom Remington, Loretta and James Goodwin were extricated from their Cadillac Eldorado after it left the roadway and rolled onto its top.
The autopsy on the body found near a crashed van off the Woodland Road Grade near Kamiah has been identified as that of Eldon J. Farris.
