Nazareth businesses say parking rules hurt
Last year Nazareth property owner Joe Wolf poured about $100,000 into restoring one of his buildings, setting the stage for a sidewalk cafe to move in to the 900-square-foot space on Broad Street.
Then parking factored into the equation -- and the deal was off.
The borough's zoning board refused to allow a cafe to occupy Wolf's property unless it had three parking spaces available for every 100 square feet.
''I would have needed 27 parking spaces for a 900-square-foot restaurant,'' said Wolf, who is still unable to fill the renovated building. ''Not even the bank down the street has to provide that many spaces.'' Read more
