According to a Worth County Sheriffa s Office report, when authorities arrived they found that the man had been working on a drainage tile in his bean field when the trench that he had dug collapsed, trapping him.

Authorities say a northern Iowa farmer died after he was buried in a trench in a farm field near Joice.

A North Iowa farmer dies when a wall of dirt falls on top of him. It happened sometime Saturday afternoon, just East of the community of Joice, in Worth County.

A pre-construction meeting was held this week with the Wright County Board of Supervisors for drainage work planned in DD#181-9. Present for the meeting were Eldon Rossow of Mer Engineering in Fort Dodge, Brian Nettleton of Nettleton Excavating in Joice and drainage clerk Deb Lukes.
