Federal authorities have cited a prominent East Tennessee developer for illegally strip-mining coal at a gated, luxury golf resort touted as an "eco-friendly community" under construction in Campbell County.

I believe this is such a shame.I say the Coal needs to be thrown away, we don't need it for the ENERGY it will produce. it's such a shame that a Developer can't develop a piece of land without hitting a small seam of COAL,to mess up the development & make the streams more muddy than they already are. Never seen a Stream around here or anywhere else that wouldn't muddy after a RAIN. Maybe the Developer won't be bothered by anymore of this Old Coal messing up his unmuddy development, otherwise.

I take the teasing in stride, Rog. I was poking fun at all the Media & the stupid people we have around this place. You know this place was raised on strip & deep mining & we that fooled with it had a pretty good life, so sad that is over now.

Yes Chi Chi, I know... That is why I was being silly. I still do not know why I had a MO IP Address, that was a very strange thing, I guess it was because I was logged into my server at work? As for my Doweltown, TN IP, that is because I have satellite broadband.
Anywho, I think you are right, this whole area, from Oneida to Fonde, KY was once nothing but a boom-town! All those old mine camps were everywhere, money was abundant and stores were a dime a dozen. Now, one has to travel 60 miles or more to get clothes that are of good quality.
It is more than a shame, it is absolutely sad. But what is even more sad is that those folks from Rarity Mountain were selling it without proper bindings. Maybe the government will fine them real good? Oh well, a slap on the wrist will do; that is usually what the more "rich" get...

Rog, idon't agree with the developer having to pay big fines really, because they already have the necessary permits & what have you to do the development, coal has to come out anyway, let them do it & sell it & to be shipped to some power plant somewhere or some alloy company that still employes people still here in the USA!!!!!!

ChiChi,
Have you seen the creek between Jellico and LaFollette lately? It is horrible! The silt run-off has polluted our waters even more than they already were. This is what I really spoke of, without proper knowledge, equiptment and so forth, "wild-cat" minning causes serious environmental problems.
It is sad, but life happens ChiChi

Rog baby, How many times have you seen the water here or anywhere else, that wasn't muddy after a rain, whether it be from a new house site, a new mall, whatever? At least the Coal Companies build a silt pond or 2 or 3, whatever it takes to control the silt & run off from the job, plus coal is another fuel source that the world & the U.S of A needs. God put the coal & oil & natural gas here for us to use, let's use it, in a helpful way. Just remember anytime it rains, you have muddy water, whether it be here, Florida,Ohio,or anywhere in the World. Rain equals Muddy Water.

Forget the developer and have a cultural encounter on top of the fuel source. I do not favor Muddy water or rain. I am from Boston and all this conversation about passing gas, the control of the silt, rain and G-spots, make me so bore, really you hilbillies are so boring. You should not use Topix. Hey Chi chi : I have a female dog always pregnant from any mutt that show up in town, are you like Her? You should not mention Florida, 0hio, World, you may have a cultural schock and goodbye Rogdizzle (what a drag) Vayeos
Wow Peter wife... Is that all you have? Throwing names and calling us hillbillies? Showing your ignorance aren't you? As I see it, and I see well, you can't even spell simple words, such as shock... Look at your spelling and think who the ignorant ones are Wifey...
Get a life and stay in Boston, MA! People like you make me sick! All northerners are the same, they think that folks from TN and KY are dumb and have no clue what education is and do not own a single pair of shoes... Well who's the dog in heat now Wifey?
Dumb northerner, not only can't she spell correctly, she couldn't even call her name peter's wife, must be caveman talk, "peter wife" LOL @ that!
Freak!
