Joseph Oberhansley, 33, of Jeffersonville appeared in court Monday, where he was formally charged with murder in the death of Tammy Blanton, 46. He also was charged with abuse of a corpse and breaking and entering.

Jeffersonville police blocked off a street in the city across the Ohio River from Louisville on Thursday while detectives investigated the death. Hollis say officers were checking on the welfare of an individual at the home when a man answered the door and police discovered the body.
