Can anyone add some "off the beaten track" type places around Jamestown? Picket State Park has some nice hiking trails and I always enjoy going to Northrup Falls. I recently heard about the gentlemans water hole in Rugby, thinking about checking that out. Any other nice hiking trails, fishing holes or watering holes in the area?

I always liked the twin arches. I was going there a long time before it was part of the park. They are awesome.

Very beautiful place indeed. I told my husband and kids that when I die that is where I want my ashes to be spread.

There are also some wonderful trails at black house mountain...great overlooks there. I posted a couple of pics from there here on the pics section.

Until I read and posted this story I had forgotten about the Charit Creek Lodge. We used to go there when I was a kid when it was still a hunting lodge. It was places like this that started my life-long love of history. Think I need to go back, its been a long time. If I remember correctly the was a large chestnut oak barn, an old blacksmith shop, and at one time there were the remains on an old mill, but the water wheel was taken away when I was still a kid. I loved exploring that place, one of my fondest childhood memories.

I hiked the honey comb loop yesterday. It was a great hike but I wouldn't recomend it to just anyone. It's almost 6 miles long. You have to be in pretty good shape for this one. I hope to try everyone's suggestions before winter comes. I'll post the pics soon.

Almost forgot, took an interesting picture on the honey comb trail yesterday. I have a digital camera and was reviewing a pic I had just taken and noticed an orb and that's not even the weird part about the picture. When I got home I was zooming in on the orb picture and was playing with the contrast setting and such. When I did that cold chills went through my body. In the orb you can see a face, and it looked almost alien like. Creeped me out completely. Too top it all off I watched the movie the Eye with Jessica Alba and the thing in that movie looked a lot like the face in the orb picture. I hope to have these pictures posted soon.

My husband was telling me about a place down at Peter's Ford River called "Mary's Lake". He said he used to go fishing there as a kid and it always creeped him out. He says to this day that is still one place he feels really weird at.

Are there any stories connected to this place to anyone's knowledge?
