World's Longest Yard Sale puts treasures, culture on display
The Highway 127 World's Longest Yard Sale is for collectors. Not just collectors of Fiestaware, old tools or marbles, although there are plenty of those treasures to be found.

I have mixed feelings about the sale. I look foward to it every year because you can find all sorts of unique items and it does boost our poverty economy, but I also dread it because it is so hot, weatherwise, and the traffic is downright awful. And I fear someone getting killed or badly injured due to a careless yard sale driver. I wish it was in the early fall or early spring. But that is just my opinion.

I do think it would be nice if it was held in cooler weather. I wonder if it would be possible to have it during spring break or fall break. Just a thought. I think the gas prices will really affect the turnout we will have this year. However it is a good economy boost to the county. Thats my take,,, next.

Just like always I am planning to leave town that week end. Good time to be on the lake. If it gets to hot I will just jump in.

My mom works out in Crossville but lives in Jamestown. Is there an alternate route to Crossville or should she just stay with a friend out there where she works?

She can go through Morgan County to Genesis Rd. So she would probably have to go through Tinchtown and Banner. If she has a friend over there. I would probably opt for that.

I am guessing "No" because most ppl that want to do something,usually find a way to do it. So I am sure they will pay the price for the gas.

looking foward to the yard sale like to travel and look for bargains . wonderful deals out there ojust got to know where to look. o; by the way will be trying to sell my truck in the yard sale at 127 north end of bypass.

Where do you think the best place on the route is to find those treasures?

I have found alot of good stuff in southend, Grimsley and Clarkrange, but you just have to look around, I am sure there is good stuff the whole million miles of it.lol

All along the route is good places to buy treasures. You never know when you will find a wonderful deal. I will be set up in Clarkrange area. Come by and shop a while. I got lots of great deals.

I love the yard sale. I always seem to be able to drop some of my hard-earned on something I had no idea that I wanted or needed. Oh, and by the way, my Mom and Dad set up in Pickett County, stop by and see em, ok?

i live n clarkrange and work in crossville. so i take a short vacation that week, that way its my choice to brave the traffic. and i love the sales too.
