Tennessee ranks 47th in nation on library spending

Only Arkansas, Mississippi and West Virginia spend less on their local libraries than Tennessee.

Sad.... Tennessee ranks 17th in population in the U.S. and almost at the bottom in library spending. What's wrong with this picture?

Uh..The librarians are either really....>REALLY good at budgeting or they won't buy anything worth a lick. I'm gonna go with the latter. I gave up on our county library years ago for books to read. Nice historical record section but...alas..not enough good fiction.

I personally have always enjoyed the Fentress and Pickett county libraries. They seem to do really well with what they've got. Love the book sales. I used to live UP near a Big city and it was no better. I don't hardly ever read fiction. I do write it though.

I have a ravenous reading appetite when it comes to history. I read the Fentress County Library years ago.... I've took a good bite out of the Pickett Library as well.

Taxes. Pure and simple. Better libraries require money.

As do I and I've acquired so many textbooks and historical non-fiction that I could almost open my own mini library. HAHA!

Know the feeling, I have roughly 100 books now not counting magazines (Civil War mostly) and my love for old newpapers and historical memoribilia.
