Fernandina Beach police have nabbed a burglary suspect in a string of crimes following a high-speed chase early Saturday. Man arrested in Baymeadows hotel killing

A 42-year-old Jacksonville man was arrested and charged with murder in the killing of another man at a Baymeadows hotel Sunday night. Edgar Macklin Jr. is accused of shooting and killing Lloyd Williams at the Suburban Extended Stay hotel on Philips Highway near Baymeadows Road about 8:30 p.m. Police said witnesses saw Macklin leaving the scene in a green Volkswagen, and they gave police a license plate number.

Seized animals receive treatment at Jacksonville shelter; owner charged

After medical examinations at Jacksonville Animal Care and Protective Services, the 61 animals confiscated from a Westside woman's small house Thursday were in "decent" health, according to Nikki Harris, the agency's division chief. The 50 dogs and 11 cats were removed from Audrey Burch's custody because of overall unhealthy conditions, Harris said Friday.

A Florida Missing Child Alert has been issued for T'yanna Elisa Davis, who was last seen with Freddric Sherrod, 29. Sherrod was last seen driving a 2003 Silver Isuzu Ascender with Florida tag 849NRU.

A 44-year-old St Augustine man was stopped by St Augustine police officers this week because the vehicle he was driving matched the description of a car used in a theft from Target. A computer check on the driver, David Albert Turner who resides at 142 Dory Road in St Augustine, revealed that he was operating the vehicle with a suspended license.
