Beebe: No politics in Leslie Rutledge's poor rating at DHS
A spokesman for Gov. Mike Beebe today brushed away a suggestion that politics played a role in the addition of a "do not rehire" message to Leslie Rutledge's personnel file after she resigned as a staff attorney at the Department of Human Services in 2007. The Repblican candidate for attorney general raised that as a possible defense of her negative evaluation after it was disclosed last week.

Among others, she's worked for a Jacksonville lawyer, been a law clerk at the Court of Appeals for old family friend Judge Jo Hart, a lawyer on Gov. Mike Huckabee's staff, a deputy prosecuting attorney in Lonoke county, a lawyer on the Huckabee presidential campaign, a lawyer for the National Republican Congressional Committee and a lawyer for the Republican National Committee. Also, she worked for a time in the Division of Children and Family Services for the Arkansas Department of Human Services.
