Researchers Keeping An Eye On Bay's Algae Bloom
A giant playground for anglers who chase bonefish and tarpon, scientists are keeping an eye on the waters of Florida Bay this year for signs that a yearly algae bloom is about to spread with devastating results.
CBS4's news partners at the Miami Herald report researchers are monitoring this year's bloom which has occurred in the Twin Key's basin west of Islamorada. The bloom has occurred roughly in the same spot, and at same time, as last year's bloom with spread into the largest bloom the bay has endured in the last 10 years. Read more
