The beach water at Split Rock Creek State Park near Ihlen isna t noticeably discolored and doesna t smell foul from the May 4 manure spill that contaminated the water and closed the beach to swimming, Friday, May 22.

A major manure spill that occurred from a Pipestone County dairy farm on May 4 caused the Minnesota Department of Natural Resource to temporarily close the beach at Split Rock Creek State Park near Ihlen.

Thanks to Minnesota voters, funding is available to build parks and trails and the prospect has created a lot of excitement for the nonprofit Friends of the Casey Jones Trail Association.
