For years coal companies have, for the most part, ignored safety, environmental, and reclamation laws and done things as they pleased. Overloaded and spilling coal trucks have destroyed roads and bridges, damaged countless cars with spilling coal, and generally terrorized motorists all over Eastern Kentucky. Let's not stop mining and hauling coal. Let's just do it more responsibly and above all more LEGALLY.

Most of our coal severance money goes to none other than LEXINGTON & other towns down the road. That is not fair. It should stay in Eastern Ky. What did Lex. do to deserve any of it?

Parts of Kentucky, TN, WV,Virginia, and any other coal producing areas will become part of the "coal belt". Kind of like Baltimore, Detroit, Pittsburgh, and Cleveland have become known as the rust belt cities. Their main sources of income left and wasn't filled with any new production. Drugs and gangs have taken the front seat in many areas around these cities.

Coal is without a doubt the most important single industry in Eastern Kentucky, and the whole region would be devastated without it. However, is it too much to ask that it be mined and hauled legally?
