this is what our brave officers have to endure on a daily basis at their job. it's a shame, but i really appreciate the fine job they do. it's also a shame that our youth are not better behaved.

Well, the word is the kid wasn't exactly polite, but he ain't John Dellinger either.

I would give some thought to this one, the Officer in question ain;t xactly the most tactful one on the force. I have seen that one. And then a few months ago he had the other thing with the guy threatening.
Another unusually hostile young man.

No, Belmont PD has a tendency to overreact.

Killing drunk drivers and what not. lol. Ole Chief showing'em how Earnhardt did it.

They also have a tendency to forget who their real boss is.

The police agencies in this country, with most street level officers under ten years experience, have received bad training, especially in the "Homeland Security" department.

Admittedly, they have been over tasked, much like the military.

I also appreciate the job they do. Not many people who would tolerate what they put up with for what they get paid. I make an effort to thank each and every one each time I can. So Thank you to all the fine police officers of Belmont and Gaston County. I applaud you for what you do. Get the trash off the streets.

I have grown tired of the same old BS.

Fact is, the job of a Belmont Officer, ain't that hard. This ain't exactly Charlotte yet.

A few drunks, a few juveniles and a few drug dealers.

The police in this country need a big long lesson on the Constitution.

After that, who cares. The People protect the peace. This ain't a police state and it sure as hell ain't never gonna be one.

And this kid is a perfect example.

The Police nowadays ELEVATE situations, not deflate them. I have seen it over and over.

The last eight years have filled the ranks with Barney Fifes.

It has been my experience that the only people who complain about the police are the ones being arrested or who cause trouble. Most, if not all, law abiding citizens appreciate the job the policeman/police women perform.

If the job of being a Belmont Officer is not that hard, since so little crime exists. They must be doing a GREAT job to keep the crime rate down.

Again, KUDOS to the Belmont Police.

Again, I hope you do not think you are helping.

Its kinda where I am taking you.

We could cut half the force and not notice. HALF. Belmont does not need CSIs, we do not need how many narcotics detectives (we have seen that-ain't we).

People (usually Yankees and Scalawags) feel the need to have all these police running around ticketing people for spitting on the sidewalk.

Keeping the peace!

Yeah, we need more rules and ordinances to tell people how to act.

Last year Belmont learned the lesson of the ancestors. The People protect. The People ensure peace. The People run off criminals.

AND THAT IS THE TRUTH AS THE PEOPLE OF BELMONT SEEN JUST SO VERY RECENTLY.

Even your own Chief said so.

Half! And I ain't sure we need that much. Think I'm wrong? Check the last ten fifteen years of budgets.

Increases and increases, but not really more people or crime. Just a bigger budget.

ANd it isn't just here, it happened everywhere because a bunch of women and metrosexuals seen a terrorist attack and GOT SCARED.

Boo Hoo!

Maybe some of these mentally deficient police will learn who pays their salaries.

More cops equals more crime. Always has and always will. You can't police your way to a better society. You have to work at it not throw more money at it.

You can lock up a whole generation (already have) but it ain't gonna stop crime.

And that cop up there at the Haunted House is the poster child for bad attitude.

I have witnessed it personally.

Some need to learn exactly HOW SMALL Belmont is, especially the Chief for he ultimately sets the tone for the rest of his force.

Were you there at this incident, or do you know of another incident involving that officer?

If you think the BP don't confront the same types of things as Charlotte police, you are crazy! Belmont's crime rate is astonishing for a small town. I recently had occasion to see police stats for our town - most people in this town don't have a clue what the BP do or the amount of crime right around them. Good job BP - keep up the good work.

Police Stats?

Please. We are the People WHO DO KNOW what goes on. Much more than the Police. As in half of the paranoid schizos on Topix have police scanners.

Crime? Domestic Violence? Skateboarders rampaging?

The only serious crime we have is imported from Charlotte. Those incidents do not require police due to the criminals are gone by the time any police arrive.

As far as drug activity? The People are the only ones who can police that activity due to it being in every home. Be it pills, booze, coke, heroin or weed...every home.

Crime rate astonishing?

If people policed their own families, we wouldn't have crime.

If we grow at an acceptable rate, we won't have crime.

More police don't stop the crime we have which is mostly social crime.

Yes, others, transient populations do bring crime with them, hence the "rate".

Police along with every government department needs some serious soul searching.

Especially in Budgets.

Fighting terrorism ain't working.

As for the alleged officer in question? I rarely mention a specific individual on Topix unless I have personally witnessed what I speak of, with thine own eyes.

And as there as here, I said the same thing both times. He needs to remember who pays his salary.

US.

Our police in this country have exceeded their authority. They are NOT a paramilitary. But they sure as hell think they are.

And that is a reel problem.

If they wanted to stop drunk driving? Go sit in the parking lot of a bar at 2:00am. Right?

But they don;t, do they?

Dude, why don't you use your badge number for your ID?

Gimme a break, is that really your argument?

Some of us have enough sense to know what the hell is going on around us on any given day! Simple enough.

The Police have become what Orwell so definitely explained. They are the instruments of the government and its behavior control programs.

And we see it every day right here.

This country was founded upon a people who policed themselves. Who fought their own battles.

DO you really think social and behavior control was what the founding fathers really believed in?

If you do then your a fool. This SHIT didn't start until the late 1800s with the Yankee Industrialists. IN order to have a productive work force, you have to control the workers.

COMMUNISM.

Communists always have a large police force in the name of national security. FOOLS. Foolish people and their scared little souls.

The peoples of Gaston County have a long history of police being used as social control.

They were the strike breakers.

Used to protect the property and NOT the people.

Again, folks who are anti-police are most often doing something illegal. If you are a law abiding citizen, then why fear the police or be so negative against them. They are doing a job that pays little, is almost thankless and yet they do it every day. So thanks to the Belmont Police and all the Gaston County Police for attempting to rid the vermin that cause problems. Lock them up and throw away the key. Lets start the chain gang back. Maybe that would curtail some crime.

WHERE did you learn your politics? where did you try to learn civics? cause its very obvious, you did not retain any material.

The people are the boss. The police are not for the preservation of capital. They serve the people and when it becomes anything different then something ain't right with this country.

YOU are either uninformed or delusional. Go ride with one on any night in Belmont.

If you are in fact a cop and THINK like this then you are simply a poster child for my point.

Civil Rights in this country are pitiful. We live in a nanny state and the police enforce the nanny's will.

The average person WILL NOT go 24 hours with breaking some law. Its the truth and that simple. We are over-governed, over-regulated and over-taxed.

WE have all the symptoms of living in a police state similar to the Nazis or Big Brother.

And that IS the disease as we can readily see the symptoms everyday in the newspapers.

Every society always has control freaks that think their reality is the truth.

And these people always self-destruct.

They are at Bentley's at 2am? Bullshit. Half the town would be walking to Wal-Mart. Not to mention, no one would be there now would they? the business would not exist, none of them would if everybody knew they would be pulled over after they left.

Bottom line, this country got scared and due to the lack of backbone made decisions to strip our civil society and replace it with a police state.

We live in a police state and all you have to do is live in the REAL WORLD to see it everyday.

IT IS NOTHING like what this country was founded upon.

The argument? "the world changed on 9/11."

No it didn't, but a bunch of deluded idiots thought it did.

SAME OLD WORLD. Just NEW IDIOTS running it.

The world ain;t safe, it ain't fair and NOBODY can protect you from life.

THAT IS WHAT Parents and the Schools should be teaching but instead they spew their fantasy society bullshit.

A lot of Adults need to grow up too.

It isn't a secret during the last eight years, we spent money on every little pet project that come along in the name of national security. We even invented a whole new department to spend the money.

are we safer? did it make the bad people go away?

No, we just have a lot less rights, a whole lot more police and a bunch of debt to pay off.

Yeah, I am sure everybody can tell you how much safer they are now. With all that money, how come crime is worst than ever?

You cannot ever police your way to a better society. More police means the opposite. That society is degrading due to fundamental problems of control.

And control is the only reason they exist anymore cause if you REALLY NEED ONE, they will be the first to tell you, "We can;t help ya."

We learned this lesson very well the last few years around here. SO, what good does the police do besides make more criminals.

More police just escalates crime, especially when they don't lock anybody up for long.

More police ain't gonna make drugs go away either, are they?

More police ain't gonna make people stop drinking and driving.

More and more and more until it gets to be a reel money maker like we got right now.

Its a business and we know how the government feels about its businesses.

Too much government in our lives. Too many policemen, too many social responsibilities, too many laws not to break, too many health care workers not helping anybody, too many teachers pushing drugs on little Johnny-can't-sit-still, too many taxes on everything we buy or sell, and on and on and on.

And we wonder why no one wants to work? what for, to have it taken away by the government for one reason or another.

Daily Horoscope for December 26

Scorpio

Something that you've always taken for granted or believed implicitly could have a big question mark hanging over it during the next few weeks. The more entrenched your views are about this, the more difficult it will be to accept that perhaps it's time for a change of opinion or, at the very least, a revaluation of what you think. Mercury turns retro in your house of communications, so do your best to be open-minded now.
