State Trooper Matthew W. Coake, who is assigned to the Dublin Virginia State Police office, recently was awarded the "Superintendent's Award for Outstanding Promotion of Highway Safety."

A Russell County, Virginia man is in jail and another is in the hospital after a shooting in Honaker Wednesday night.

Several hundred veterans and their families and friends battled cool, windy weather early Saturday morning to attend the Veterans Ride for Freedom Memorial Ceremony and then head out to Washington D.C. as part of the nationwide Run to the Wall.
