Nelson Alexander Caraballo, 31, is accused of trying to steal a Dodge Caravan from its owner and of cutting and injuring the victim.

"We had peopled lined up almost to the lumber door this morning, and most of them were men," noted Tara Womble, an employee at The Home Depot as she helped Sandy Monroe load her car.

Holden Beach Board of Commissioners challenger Sheila Young apparently won a seat on the board by two votes, defeating fellow challenger Peggy Schiavone.
