On Saturday, September 13, members of the Warren Township Office of Emergency Management's CERT Team participated with over 60 other Somerset County CERT volunteers in a County CERT drill at the Somerset County Emergency Services Training Academy in Hillsborough, NJ. The mock disaster scenario simulated a 6.0 earthquake shaking central New Jersey.

Second annual Peter J. Biondi Memorial Trail run/walk for SHIP set for Oct. 12

On Sunday, Oct. 12, at 10 a.m., the Samaritan Homeless Interim Program , Joan Biondi, Senator Christopher "Kip" Bateman, Assemblyman Jack M. Ciattarelli, Assemblywoman Donna M. Simon and other constituents of New Jersey's 16th Legislative District will be hosting the second annual Peter J. Biondi Memorial Trail Run-Walk at the Sourland Mountain Preserve on East Mountain Road in Hillsborough. This year participants will have the option to run-walk a challenging four-mile course within the confines of the Preserve.

Somerset County Prosecutor Geoffrey D. Soriano announces that a Somerset County Grand Jury has indicted Juan Jimenez - Olivera, age 29, of Hamilton Road, Hillsborough Township. The charges in the Indictment include Murder, 1st Degree; Aggravated Sexual Assault, 1st Degree; Aggravated Arson, 2nd Degree; Disturbing, Desecrating Human Remains, 2nd Degree; Hindering Apprehension or Prosecution, 3rd Degree and Tampering with Physical Evidence, 4th Degree.

Somerset County Freeholders Pass Resolution To Support Off-Track Wagering Act Revisions

The Somerset County Board of Chosen Freeholders passed a resolution tonight in support of Senate Bill 2283 sponsored by Senator Christopher "Kip" Bateman and companion Assembly Bill 3127 sponsored by Assemblyman Jack M. Ciattarelli and Assemblywoman Donna M. Simon, which seeks revisions to the "Off-Track Wagering Act," including permitting municipalities to reject proposed off-track wagering facilities and removing the five-year property tax abatement on the land and building in which the off-track wagering facility operates.
