At the Nov. 11 West Milford Township Council meeting, Councilman Joe Smolinski inappropriately spent a substantial amount of time pushing approval for Bob Coyman's inactive proposal of a bowling alley and associated strip-mall in the Hewitt area.

A 16-year-old hiding in an upstairs closet during a Sparta home break-in was able to call police and give descriptions that helped link three people to the crime, as well as to an attempted burglary in Vernon, police said.

On Tuesday, Sept. 8, at approximately 1:30 p.m., the West Milford Police Department received a 911 Call of a serious Motor Vehicle Crash on East Shore Road.

On Friday, Aug. 21, Police Officer Carol Stelmach observed Jason Halvorgen, 22, a township resident, allegedly speeding on Union Valley Road.
