It is festival season in Louisiana, and this goes for Grand Coteau as well. Just last week, the Sweet Dough Pie Festival, only in its second year, drew locals and visitors who seemed to have a bottomless hunger for pies.
Two arrested in pipe bomb incident
Authorities arrested two Lafayette Parish men Wednesday night suspected of manufacturing two pipe bombs that were discovered by a sheriff's deputy, whose alerts led to the evacuation of nine homes and road closures that shut down almost all of Briarfield Subdivision for hours.
Bayou Vermilion Festival & Boat Parade set for Oct. 20
The parade is a celebration of and on the Bayou Vermilion that aims to increase awareness of the river as a viable source of recreation for Lafayette Parish and also serves as a fundraiser for the Bayou Vermilion District's efforts along the Vermilion.
