Authorities have made two arrests in connection with the death of a Helen man. In a news release Friday, Helen Police Chief Jim Couch said arrest warrants were obtained for 21 year old Jason William Bowlen of Dallas, Georgia, and 52 year old James Patrick Thigpen of Mableton.

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation was called Thursday to assist Helen Police Department with its probe of a suspicious death in the city.

Helen has re-invented itself several times in its first 100 years to meet the challenges of changing times.

It took White County rescuers more than 7.5 hours to reach and retrieve a man who experienced a medical emergency on the Appalachian Trail Sunday afternoon.
