It's much easier to blame the police than to take responsibility for your own actions, or those of your family member. Once someone is killed, they almost instantly become "a good guy" or "someone who was trying to improve themselves." Families always want the police to solve a problem in minutes that took decades to create! Be accountable for your own actions people!!!!

i am deeply sadden by this event. It bothers me to know that despite this family's desperate attempt to seek help, they were not provided the appropriate type of help for this man's obvious drug addiction. Jail was not the answer... this man needed real human help, he was a sick man.... I HAVE VERY LITTLE HOPE FOR OUR FUTURE. WE NEED REFORM.....................

He was a LIL WATTS gangmember...another violent criminal off the street...we should all be happy. Another message sent to the streets....prayers for the deputy. The suspect chose the ending, not the deputy.

How can you say that, the family asked for help. But since hes an adult the family cant do nothing. The police will turn you away when you ask for help. They tried!!!! Why cant the police shoot to disarm. Why shoot to kill? They go to school to learn to shoot. Why cant they learn to shoot the knee cap or the arm, come on. Not kill.

What is the excuse when he became a gang member? What is the excuse when he began using illegal narcotics, most likely starting with marijuana? What other excuses would you like to make for this person who obviously made many vital mistakes throughout his life, and made the decision to lead a life of illegal activity and gang membership? How about stop being so soft and hold him responsible for his own actions! If it wasn't for sympathetic people like you, our society would be able to remove these gangs and the harm they cause from our streets.

I love how the family blames everyone except the moron who shot the Officer. It blows my mind. Glad he's swiss cheese and glad the officer will be ok.

Sadden, if he was chasing you with a gun, would u ask for reform or help? Get real, he would have killed you and your cute little dog. The streets are not made for reform, the only this gangmember needed was prison. He chose to be a gangmember, he chose to carry a gun, and he chose to use methamphetmine. He ultimately chose to shoot at a deputy no matter what type of family or help was offered to him inthe past. This a reality law enforcement engages everyday. Speak on what you know, not what you think. God bless the deputy and his family.

I like how people always like the blame law enforcement whenever any shooting happens. Where is any mention of personal responsibility?
The suspect put himself in the situation. Therefore, blame primarily rests on the suspect. Lets remember several things here: He was the one who had multiple convictions and never turned his life around. He was the one that joined a gang. He was the one that got high for seven days strait. He was the one running around with a gun. He was the one that shot at the cops. He is the one to blame. He engaged in irresponsible and dangerous risk inducing behavior and paid dearly.
Blaming law enforcement for defending themselves is foolish. Cops are meant to protect society. Sometimes it is not a pretty job. However, they did their job that night even though it involved the taking of a life. It is not the cops' job to act as cannon fodder for a high irrational individual who poses a grave danger to the entire neighborhood.
If we want to advance as a society we need to place blame where it belongs.

I disagree with almost every sentence you write. When you say "seek help", what you really mean is you think the government or others should bear the responsibility that is the family's alone. The family should have intervened and dealt with the problem on the first day he got high, not waited a full week until it boiled over. They only sought help once they were inconvenienced by his increasingly paranoid behavior after 7 full days of continuous tweaking. And the help they sought was not drug intervention, it was emergency police protection, which was entirely appropriate considering he pointed a gun at his own mother...

Wrong. You shoot to kill. End of story. You don't wound. If someone needs to use DEADLY FORCE, the key is to leave the suspect DEAD.

Stay in Vegas, moron!

I like how the family is setting the stage for a lawsuit. When do we get to the next Luis Carrillo news conference? When do we get to see Luis Carrillo and the family holding up a picture of this dirtbag when he was 6 years old? I'm so sick and tired of this c..p!

I guess accountability and integrity went out the window many, many moons ago. Say "NO" to the lawsuits and free handouts. Enough is Enough!

I grew up knowing Juan, he was a family friend. when I received the call this morning I was very shocked.
I to hate when the media spins stories to look like the villain is the good guy. Juan was not the good guy because he committed an act the is very punishable by law....in this case the ultimate price...death
I read all your post and I hate when people are so quick to say stupid **** like Deport! he was born and raised here.
Juan had a big heart always willing to give you his shirt off his back but the guy had a drug problem, we would always try to talk to him, but you can only do and say so much.

untimely what was he looking for??? he had a caring mother, caring family, caring friends. All who tried helping him get back on his feet.
what kind of help did he need?? what could have our system done for him?? what have they done for others like him?? I honestly believe he is in a better place now.
My thought and prayers go out to the deputy and Juan Aguilar.
I know my words my defend some of you but it's just my opinion...not a justification.

And if this clown hadn't been druged out of his mind he would also be alive today. No matter how bad the family would like to delegate the blame to others, he is dead because of his own ignorance.
