Area animal shelters don't want adopted animals to become unwanted surprises this holiday season, and they are asking families to consider giving adoption gift certificates instead.
The gift certificates, usually good for one year, allow recipients to choose their new friend and reduce the chance that a pet will wind up back in the animal shelter because of incompatibility. Read more
