Severt "Seip" Van Berkel, 81, of Sioux Center went to be with our Heavenly Father on May 5, 2008, surrounded by his loving family at the Sioux Center Community Hospital.
Memorial services were held Thursday, May 8, at 2:00 p.m. at First Reformed Church of Sioux Center with the Rev. Roger Voskuil officiating. Interment was held prior to the memorial service in Memory Gardens Cemetery of Sioux Center.
The Van Berkel family prefers memorials be directed to New Life Treatment Center, a place of healing for some dear people to Severt. Read more

John Van Ballegooyen, 77, of rural Hawarden died Tuesday, Feb. 19, 2008, at his residence.
Funeral Service were held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at the Christian Reformed Church in Hawarden with the Rev. Tom Van Engen and the Pastor Larry Nilson officiating. Burial followed in the Grace Hill Cemetery. The family requests memorials are directed to World Home Missions through the Christian Reformed Church.
John Van Ballegooyen was born Jan. 4, 1931, north of Hawarden to Andrew and Allie (Bosch) Van Ballegooyen. John's mother passed away in 1935 and his father married Alice Bryson in 1936. John attended rural school near Hawarden and Ireton. John married Grada Kooi on Jan. 24, 1951, at Lebanon. Together they farmed and raised their family west of Hawarden in Union County, South Dakota. John enjoyed farming, and raising cattle and hogs. He loved woodworking as a hobby and made many wood projects for family, friends, and benefits. They enjoyed camping, traveling, and visiting with their many friends. Read more
