The debate over fire protection continues in Saline County. In December, Harrisburg leaders voted to end outside fire calls on July 1. In response, the county developed a new plan but officials from both sides say more work needs to be done.

"Together, this is our best chance for a reasonable court opinion that came down from the 7th circuit," said the bill's sponsor Harrisburg Representative Brandon Phelps.
