Will Hawaii see a wave of Chinese investments after Kauai purchase?
About a year ago, I wrote a story with the headline, "Chinese buyers have 'insatiable appetite' for Hawaii real estate," which talked about how there a group of investors from China was looking to purchase larger projects and was in discussions with local real estate developers. Fast forward to Wednesday, when I reported that billionaire Thai-Chinese businessman Chanchai Ruayrungruang 's Reignwood Group purchased 1,103 acres at the luxurious Princeville Resort in Hanalei, including the Prince Golf Course, on the North Shore of Kauai for $343 million.
