A trough of low pressure will sweep into the West Saturday, bringing more rain into Southern California, Arizona and New Mexico.
Snow showers were expected at higher elevations in those areas. Heavier snow was expected to fall in Idaho and Wyoming, with snow also anticipated in the Northwest, the Rockies, the Plains and New England.
Elsewhere, a weakening front stretching from the Mississippi Valley through the Mid-Atlantic was to bring rain to that region into the late morning. A high pressure system from the north was expected to put an end to the precipitation. Read more

Forecasters predicted heavy snow in parts of the Southwest and cooler temperatures in the Northeast on Friday, while the West Coast was expected to be unseasonably cold.
A winter storm was expected in the Southwest that could drop heavy snow in mountainous areas and rain at lower elevations. The storm could also bring snow to the southern Sierra Nevadas in California and showers and heavy rain to San Diego and Los Angeles.
Southern California was expected to get chilly wet weather, but the remainder of the West Coast was expected to be unseasonably cold. Read more
