East County to get new fire station - Tuesday, 16 September 2014 01:00
East County is getting a new fire station, replacing one that was falling apart, and dignitaries and Gresham firefighters celebrated the construction with a groundbreaking ceremony Friday, Sept. 12. Mike McKeel, board chairman of Multnomah Rural Fire Protection District 10, was master of ceremonies during the event at the intersection of 302nd Avenue and Dodge Park Road, across the street from the old location of Station 76, which is more than 50 years old and has outlived its usefulness.

Two-alarm fire damages Friends of Children facility
A two-alarm fire damaged the future East County site of Friends of the Children, just one day before the nonprofit group was to host its family day at Pat Pfiefer Park to celebrate its growth and announce its capital campaign to build a new facility in Rockwood. Gresham firefighters were called at about 5:15 p.m. to the site, the former Police Activities League building at 424 N.E. 172nd Ave. A substantial fire was blazing, and about 40 firefighters from Gresham and Portland moved quickly to put it out.
Man Accused Of Stealing $1 From Gas Station
Police in Gresham say a man is facing charges after being accused of stealing one dollar from a gas station. Thirty-one-year-old Donovan Fogel allegedly demanded two dollars Monday from the clerk at a Chevron station on West Powell Boulevard in Gresham.
