The Apache-Sitgreaves National Forests have received more than $20 million as a part of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 to fund projects for hazardous fuel treatments, and the improvement and maintenance of forest facilities, trails, and roads.

For recreational opportunities, it's hard to top the White Mountains in summer. The adjacent cities of Springerville and Eagar, nestled in Valle Redondo are great places to start, along with nearby hamlets Greer and Alpine, all engulfed by the Apache-Sitgreaves National Forests.
