The Arlington Fire Department would like to purchase a "command vehicle" to reduce the liability of volunteers using their own vehicles in responding to certain fire scenes, provide mutual aid, as well as transport them to training classes.

Town firefighters hope to have their newest truck in service in about three weeks after having traveled to upstate New York to pick it up over the weekend, Fire Chief Rick Smart said Monday.
