Open-water fishing season begins
Anglers throughout Maine turned out to welcome the start of the 2008 open-water fishing season.
But in some cases, chilly weather and icy lakes seemed to limit the number of fishermen who went out Tuesday to wet a line.
Parker Johnson was one of the few to try his luck at the village-dam spillway in Belgrade Lakes. Johnson, who lives nearby, was optimistic, saying 'You catch good fish in the rain.'
At Grand Lake Stream, Brian Foley returned to the popular fishing haunt for the eleventh opening day in a row. Foley said the weather was milder than usual and the fact that there was no rain or sleet made it bearable. Read more
