Train wreckage on a mainline section of track in central Iowa was cleared Friday, after a Union Pacific collision closed the line for more than 24 hours.

"Looks like the coal train derailed midway through the track and the cars crashed into the freight train," said Chief Deputy Jack Williams of the Greene County Sheriff.

The Greene County Sheriff says deputies were called to the scene about a half mile east of Grand Junction just after 6 a.m. The initial investigation shows a westbound cargo train was sitting on the tracks when a train carrying coal passed by and had some sort of malfunction and derailed.
Farm Accident Kills Central Iowa Man
A man was crushed between two pieces of farm equipment on Friday. Authorities said it happened in Greene County just north of Grand Junction, but declined to give an address.
