Volunteers hang posters of missing IU student
<![CDATA[BLOOMINGTON, Ind. (AP) -- Volunteers spent the weekend hanging posters in Bloomington seeking tips about the disappearance of an Indiana University student who vanished nearly two years ago. The weekend effort to hang posters with Lauren Spierer's image around the southern Indiana college town came less than a week before the day when Spierer would have graduated from IU. Gosport resident Shelly Leonard tells The Herald-Times (http://bit.ly/11Q6ORw ) the poster-hanging effort is "just a last-ditch effort before her class leaves" Bloomington following graduation. Spierer vanished on June 3, 2011, after a night of partying with friends in downtown Bloomington. The poster hanging comes after Bloomington firefighters rebuilt 20 large signs featuring a photograph of the smiling 20-year-old and requesting tips on her disappearance. Those signs erected in the summer of 2011 had become weathered.
