Shimkus seeks override of water act veto
“Comprehensive plan for the purpose of restoring, preserving, and protecting the
Kaskaskia River Basin;”
U.S. Rep. John Shimkus, R-Collinsville, today intends to vote to override President Bush's veto of the Water Resources Development Act.
'This legislation contains authorization for many projects important to our state's economy, to our river system, and to conservation efforts along these waterways,' Shimkus said. 'I am disappointed that the President vetoed this bill and unfortunately am forced to vote to override his veto.'
Bush vetoed the $23 billion bill on Friday because he said it is too expensive. Read more
