The annual VIMS Marine Science Day is Saturday
The annual Virginia Institute of Marine Science "Marine Science Day" will be held Saturday at the Gloucester Point campus from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The open house features exhibits, a parade, children's activities, seining on the York River, lab tours, seafood cooking demonstrations, mini-lectures and other events, said a VIMS spokesman.
Closure planned for York River drawbridge
The drawbridge on the York River between Yorktown and Gloucester Point, Virginia will be closed to boat traffic the week of July 8. The Coast Guard announced on Monday, May 6 that it will shut the US 17/George P. Coleman Memorial Swing Bridge across the York River at mile 7 for repairs.
Osprey lecture offered Thursday at VIMS
The world of the osprey will be explored at a lecture Thursday night on the campus of Virginia Institute of Marine Science in Gloucester Point.
