Scooters - new form of transportation for local policemen

Glens Falls police officers are patrolling the city a lot faster these days with the help of the Segway scooter.

Police Officer James Fiorini said, "I don't ride a bike. I always walk my beat. This here, though, cuts my time a lot. I can do my whole beat in 15 minutes. All the parking lots, the businesses, everyone saw me. Those benefits are good because I get more coverage and more often."

Mayor Akins might step down

After undergoing emergency surgery, Mayor Akins was forced to take some time off. Councilman-at-Large Jack Diamond has been filling in in his absence.
The Mayor is currently wheel-chair bound as he continues to fight the tumor, and recover from colon problems.

And while people here in City Hall say Akins has been talking positively about coming back to work, what would happen if he didn't?
"If the Mayor steps down, there will be a general election on September 9th," said Diamond.
