how could any business thats only been around since the 1990's be a fixture? Especially a stupid religious book store. Boo Hoo, should have prayed harder.

Mr.Bingle,The location of the store was the problem, because of PARKING spaces !! Why not try the location where the old Greyhound bus depot was on Walnut.A visit to your store was always a treat !Location ,location, please try it !

Used to be called Christian Corner back in the 70s. The article wasn't thoroughly researched, as usual.

Good riddance. I hope this happens to all the christian book stores.

"Men will never be free until the last king is strangled with the entrails of the last priest."

"Religion is excellent stuff for keeping common people quiet."

"Clearly the person who accepts the Church as an infallible guide will believe whatever the Church teaches."

Eskimo: "If I did not know about God and sin, would I go to hell?"
Priest: "No, not if you did not know."
Eskimo: "Then why did you tell me?"

"To Pray: To ask the laws of the universe to be annulled on behalf of a single petitioner confessedly unworthy."

"We must respect the other fellow's religion, but only in the sense and to the extent that we respect his theory that his wife is beautiful and his children smart."

"Men never commit evil so fully and joyfully as when they do it for religious convictions."

"The world holds two classes of men - intelligent men without religion, and religious men without intelligence."

Sorry to see this happen, even though the type of books could be bought elsewhere there was a special feel going into this location.

Good news I hear a wiccan/pagan bookstore is going up on that site.

One can always go to the Fuller bookstore on Walnut.

I spent many peaceful, idyllic hours browsing the titles. I usually made 80 or 90 dollar purchases per visit. I must agree, with an earlier post, namely, the store was "done in" by poor parking, and poorer access to the lot from the street. I want to say thank you for your service to the community. To the haters, remember "the fool hath said in his heart 'there is no God'".

I wonder which category Josef Stalin, Mao Zedong, and Pol Pot fall under. They were famous atheists.

The decline of education and morality in America, the decline of bookstores. The big box stores won't stock all that this type of store did.

Maybe if it hadn't also been painted like a lighthouse it would have been more inviting.

I feel guilty about such closures, in that I'm a fan of independent bookstores. And yet, I'm drawn by Internet sales. Not just by Amazon, but by eBay, Half.com , etc. The Internet is full of opinions, selections, browsing options, choices. No driving (eco-friendly!), no parking, no lines. And here I am now, reading the paper online, except it's not paper anymore. Am I building a wonderful new future? Or am I part of the problem?

By the way, I think the angry anti-Christian bigots who post here are giving angry anti-Christian bigots a bad name. Please show some tolerance, people!

Someday, not in the too distant future, schoolchildren will ask their parents, "What is paper?"

Daily Horoscope for December 31

Libra

If you live with other people you have to resign yourself to the fact that you all want to do different things today. The more you urge togetherness, the more everyone will be determined under tonight's Full Moon to do their own thing even if it creates problems. Try to play this down as much as possible because it's also a lunar eclipse and getting angry won't solve anything; it may even make the situation worse. Maybe this is a chance for you to do what you want for a change, too? Anyway, enjoy yourself tonight, Libra because you deserve it!
